![]() ![]() You can still say that applying them counts as an action, but it makes the specific math Exalted/Scion use less applicable (as they assume DV is free to apply). While I like the defense as static values, it has some complexity when applied to the cWOD rules because cWOD combat assumes using defense actions counts as using up part of your actions for the turn (note: use the Revised Dark Ages rules on this -which are free- please). So options (assuming you want to stay in the ST system variant family of games):ġ) You could grab the Translation Guide and some Internet threads on the subject and run WtA with the nWOD rules.Ģ) You could import the static values of Exalted 2e or Scion, though some tweaking will be needed (Exalted's soak rules have very different math and Scion makes soak incredibly strong).ģ) Bodge it yourself, which you've already started. ![]() Exalted and Scion both manage to reduce rolling, Scion even reduces multiple actions, but still manage to end up with combat encounters that can take ages to finish even at levels of power closer to WtA rather than whether those two games go very quickly. If your big concern is how much of a slog WtA combat can be (and I feel you, I love the game but once sat through 5 rounds of combat that took 5 hours to finish), I don't think reducing the rolls to static values alone is really going to solve your problem. If a pack of 5 werewolves are taking on a big beasty, ~6 actions a turn is going to be much faster paced and easier on you to run than ~12 actions a turn. The cWOD lets each character take multiple actions a turn by default, and WtA means Rage actions on top of it. Most combatants are only going to be taking one action. When people compare the cWOD and nWOD 4 rolls vs 1 roll combat is often brought up, but what really makes the nWOD combat faster pace is that getting more than one action a turn is a fairly big deal. While the cWOD system does roll too much in combat on general principle, and WtA even more so (as it adds even more possible checks), turning some of the rolls into static traits is a very slight way to speed things up. That would work? Would that make combats faster? Would that break the system? ![]() If the enemy has Stamina 4, he would take 5 lvls of damage. #WEREWOLF APOCALYPSE PDF PC#So if PC 1 has Strength 3, is using a knife (+1 Damage), rolls 5 successes with his attack pool and PC 2 rolls 3 successes with his defense pool, PC 1 would cause 3 lvls of damage. So I've been thinking, how about this to make things faster:ġ) PC 1 rolls his attack pool (Dex+Melee/Brawl/Whatever) Ģ) PC 2 rolls his defense pool (Dex+Dodge/Melee/Whatever)ģ) If PC 1 won (attack pool > defense pool), the damage is: /2Ĥ) PC 2 tries to soak. It seems to me that you roll too many times, causing a slow combat resolution. I really like W:tA and would love to gm a new campaign with it, but. I was talking with some friends about possible future campaigns and they liked the idea of a Werewolf: The Dark Ages game. ![]()
